The original City of Phoenix Fire Station No. 12 was a combination of existing facilities, which had been built in the 1950's and renovated to fit the city's needs. These facilities sufficiently met the community's needs until the mid-1990's when the demands of a continually increasing growth area of inner-city Phoenix called for a more sophisticated response. The city decided to upgrade the antiquated facility with a new milt-use site consisting of a four bay fire station, district command office and health facility.
